Delve into Dubai’s rich history
“Discover the city’s past on Dubai Creek, once a bustling port on the trade route between Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley, whose artefacts can be found at the Saruq Al-Hadid museum in the Shindagha district. Then follow the city into the beginnings of modern Dubai, which traces back to the 1830s when the emirate began its transformation from a small fishing village to a modern metropolis.
Move south along Sheikh Zayed Road to discover the startling architectural masterpieces of Downtown, including the magnificient Dubai Opera, a world-class performance centre in Downtown Dubai. The city’s unique brand of modernism is also on display in Al Quoz – a vibrant arts and cultural hotspot which is transforming the city’s former industrial district. To really get a feel of Dubai’s cultural amalgamation, take a tour further inland into Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, reminiscent of the city’s old world charm.
